How I Help You Overcome Driving Anxiety
If driving makes you feel anxious, overwhelmed, or out of control, you’re not the only one. I work with people who avoid motorways, feel panic at roundabouts, struggle with speed, or worry about losing control behind the wheel.
For some, the anxiety has built up over time. For others, it’s come from a specific experience. Either way, it can start to limit your freedom — where you go, what you do, and how you live your life.
That’s where I come in.
A Different Approach to Driving Anxiety
These are not just standard driving lessons.
I combine practical driving with a solid understanding of how anxiety works, so you’re not just learning what to do with the car — you’re learning how to stay calm and in control while you do it.
I’ve been involved in driver training since 1999 and have developed my work to an advanced level over the years. I became a Grade A instructor, went on to train other instructors — many of whom have built successful careers of their own — and I also work with clients who have additional needs. I hold DIA Diamond Advanced Master Driver status.
Alongside that, I spent years studying therapeutic approaches and graduated in Person-Centred Therapy. I then trained in NLP, becoming a practitioner before continuing my training with a different organisation to reach Master Practitioner level.
What that means for you is simple: you’re working with someone who understands both how to teach driving properly and how to help you feel better while doing it.
What Working Together Looks Like
There’s no one-size-fits-all plan.
Some people need a steady, structured approach. Others need something more flexible, adjusting things as we go. We’ll find what works for you and build from there.
Progress is usually step by step. It might start with something small — a short drive, a new route, or a situation you’ve been avoiding. Over time, those steps build into real confidence.
And sometimes, there’s a moment where things just click — where you realise you’re calmer than you expected and more in control than you thought possible.
Real Change, Not Just Coping
The goal isn’t to “get through” driving.
It’s to feel calm, in control, and confident doing it.
I’ve seen people go from avoiding driving altogether to handling situations they once thought were impossible — comfortably, independently, and without that constant sense of fear.
